Our Story
Founded on March 13, 1982, in Columbus, Ohio, the Gamma Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated proudly serves within the Middlewest Region. The chapter was chartered by 15 professional registered nurses—five of whom remain active today.
For more than four decades, Gamma Eta Chapter has been a visible and engaged presence in the community. We uphold the mission of our National organization through health education and screenings focused on chronic conditions that disproportionately affect African Americans, including hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and kidney disease.
Our chapter actively partners with organizations such as the March of Dimes, the American Heart Association, the African American Male Wellness Agency, numerous faith communities, and agencies that support the health and wellness of older adults, women, infants, and teens.
Gamma Eta Chapter is also deeply committed to supporting the next generation of nurses. One of our signature events, the annual Sarah Elizabeth Smith Scholarship Luncheon, raises funds to advance the education and professional development of nursing students.
Today, we are 70 members strong—and continue to grow each year.
